Three of the six men convicted in a 2010 case in which the right palm of professor was chopped off over a question paper in Kerala have been sentenced to life imprisonment and the other three awarded prison terms of three years each.
A special NIA court in Kochi on Thursday sentenced Sajil, M.K. Nasar and Najeeb K.A. to life terms, besides fines of Rs 50,000 each. Naushad, Moideen Kunju and Ayoob were sentenced to three years each in prison.
The court had on Wednesday convicted them in the case of chopping off the hand of professor T.J. Joseph over a question he had set for his students at Newman College of Thodupuzha in Idukki district.
