The conference brought together several specialists who spoke on clinical nutrition and also provided a platform to facilitate communication between doctors and nutritionists and also students.
Speaking at a Press Meet at the Conference, Dr. Subhrajyoti Bhowmick Clinical Director Dept. of Nephrology, Peerless Hospital elaborated on the topic said, “Our conference aims to bring together doctors and dieticians on a single platform and seek common solutions about nutritional management of certain diseases. This has hardly been seen in any conferences commonly organized in Eastern India. The way forward of treating patients is based on evidence-based medicine i.e. utilizing the best evidence of published research to treat patients efficiently. We have also published a paper on the covid 19 patients. Research work is scarcely conducted in the field of clinical nutrition in India and we wanted to motivate the young minds to experience global best practices, through this conference. We are having a poster competition for the conference delegates where the participants will be able to share their research work”.

The conference witnessed a wide variety of formats including panel discussions, lectures, and presentations highlighting important issues like nutrition in Chronic Kidney Disease and Dialysis. Followed by a session on diabetes and Obesity in which neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal discussed the management and their practices. There was a special session on Nutrition & Health System and the guideline for next steps for health professionals by an International speaker from Cambridge University, UK. The message on critical care by an international speaker from Switzerland was another highlight. In Gastroenterology the speakers spoke about the gut microbiome which is very important for the well-being of the patients and the need for nutrition in IBD. Gastro will be followed by the panel discussion on Eating disorders and difficulties in feeding. International speakers included Prof. Dr. Sumantra Ray (Cambridge University, UK), Dr. Yossi Sammy (Nestle Health Science, Switzerland), Ms. Mahfuza Afroz Sathi (Imperial Hospital Ltd. Chattogram, Bangladesh), Ms. Praniti Singh (Norvic International Hospital, Katmandu, Nepal)
