Uttar Pradesh groom turns action hero to reclaim stolen cash garland

What happens when movies meet real life? A wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut answered that question with a stunt-packed spectacle that has left the internet in splits. Move over, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Tom Cruise — our new action hero is groom Dev Kumar, who turned his wedding procession into an action-packed blockbuster on wheels.

Dev, decked out in a grey suit, a red turban and a garland of currency notes, was riding a horse down the highway. Baraatis were grooving, cars honked in rhythm, and relatives were busy recording videos for their Instagram. Life was perfect.

Enter the villain, a mini-truck driver. Out of nowhere, this highway hustler decided that the groom’s cash garland looked like the perfect souvenir. With a quick swoop, he tore the garland off the groom’s neck and sped away, leaving Dev temporarily stunned.

Any other groom might have mourned the loss of his prized garland. But Dev Kumar isn’t just any groom. When life gives you lemons, you grab a motorbike. And that’s exactly what Dev did.

A passer-by with a bike must have felt like an Uber driver as Dev hopped on and shouted, “Chalo! Us truck ko pakadna hai!” [Let's go! We need to catch that truck!] And just like that, the chase began, with Dev riding pillion like an angry action star seeking justice — or, in this case, his stolen cash.

The viral video of this pursuit is the stuff of legends. Dev, on a speeding bike, spots the mini-truck, jumps off mid-motion, and channels his inner Tom Cruise. With the grace of a slightly untrained gymnast, he clambers onto the moving truck and swings himself through the passenger window.

Dev brought the vehicle to a screeching halt like a man on a mission. He then dragged the driver out like a seasoned bouncer removing a troublemaker. And because no Indian story is complete without a supporting cast, two of Dev’s baraatis joined in, followed by a man carrying gas cylinders on a bike.

What followed was a scene of epic proportions: the driver getting a thorough slap fest while pleading his innocence. His excuse? “I had no intention of stealing and ‘mistakenly’ took the garland of money.”

No official complaint has been lodged. Dev got his garland back, his baraatis got their share of drama, and the mini-truck driver probably got a life lesson he’ll never forget.

Pune gym review goes viral for wrong reasons

Gym memberships are supposed to build muscles, not break hearts, but for one Pune man his fitness journey turned into a Shakespearean tragedy. A popular gym with glowing reviews found itself at the centre of a melodrama after a spurned lover decided to air his grievances online.

In a one-star Google review that now rivals Netflix drama scripts, the anonymous gym-goer unleashed his tale of woe. He joined the gym with his girlfriend, Shruti, blissfully unaware that his romantic gains were about to plateau. Enter Abhishek, another gym-goer who, it seems, had more than just sets and reps in mind. The reviewer lamented how Abhishek stole Shruti away — despite the sacred gymbro bond of protein shake sharing.

To add salt to the wound, Shruti and Abhishek now pump iron together, leaving our forlorn reviewer to sweat out his sorrow solo.

The review didn’t go unnoticed. An X user spotted it and promptly turned it into an internet sensation. Netizens had a field day: one quipped about "unwritten gymbro codes," while another cheekily suggested the gym sponsor a breakup recovery party.

Whether this tale prompts the gym to issue loyalty points for loyalty breaches remains to be seen.

And as for our heartbroken hero, we hope he keeps lifting—weights, not spirits this time.

No swearing in Maharashtra village. We swear we’re not making it up

A village in Maharashtra that lives off its sugarcane production has taken the bar of sweetness a notch higher. Ahilyanagar district’s Saundala village has passed a resolution against the use of vulgar language.

So, life is now difficult for people who resort to swearing to express emotions (not just anger).

The rule is: Anyone using unsavoury language will have to cough up Rs 500.

Sharad Argade, the sarpanch who passed the resolution, said that the use of expletives targeted at mothers and sisters is common during arguments in the village.

“Those who use such a language forget that what they say in the name of mothers and sisters also applies to the female members of their own families,” he said. The decision can be interpreted as an attempt to honour the dignity and self-respect of women in society.

In 2007, Saundala, some 300 km from Mumbai, had bagged the state-level award for being a dispute-free village.

We strongly recommend people like Virat Kohli (who love referring to Ben Stokes every now and then) to avoid this place.

Kota cops hunt fake police trio who robbed ₹36 lakh and abducted a cook

In Kota’s Gumanpura, Monday afternoon saw a bizarre plot unfold that even Bollywood might reject for being too over the top.

Three men..two donning fake police uniforms and one who clearly missed the memo on costumes, stormed into a rented house, made off with ₹36 lakh in cash, and, because apparently, robbing wasn’t enough, abducted the household cook.

The house, rented by employees of a private finance firm, had been their home for months. Around 4pm, the fake officers barged in, threatened the cook with a fake case, and demanded he hand over a bag filled with cash. Not content with their loot, they decided to take Vishal along for the ride.

Clearly, these robbers believed in the ‘all-inclusive’ package.

But their hostage act didn’t last long. About five kilometres away, on Rawatbhatta Road, the trio realised they had no use for Vishal..perhaps his culinary skills weren’t worth the risk. So they released him unharmed.

Meanwhile, the actual police scrambled to piece together the crime, sifting through CCTV footage and issuing promises of swift justice.

Social media, as expected, couldn’t resist. One Instagram user remarked, “Kota’s cooks are now more valuable than gold!”

If there’s one lesson here, it’s this: in Kota, it’s not just the cash you need to safeguard..your cook might also be a target.

Drunk duo’s midair madness

“Happy skytripping” recently escalated to a different level altogether. A sloshed passenger duo wreaked havoc midair while two Supreme Court judges were witness to the entire saga.

Justice K.V. Viswanathan recalled the unpleasant experience during a hearing which sought to seek measures to deal with unruly flyers. The plea attempted to address the issue involving an inebriated man allegedly urinating on a 73-year-old woman on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi in November 2022.

Justice Viswanathan recalled how in one flight he took, one drunk passenger went to the washroom and dozed off while another kept to his designated seat and vomited away into a bag.

“The crew was all women. For 30 to 35 minutes no one could open the door. The crew then requested my co-passenger to open the door and take him out to the seat. It was a 2.40 hours flight,” Justice Viswanathan said.

At times, forgetting your boarding pass is a better deal than forgetting basic etiquettes.
