Siddaramaiah takes oath as Karnataka chief minister, DK Shivakumar as deputy CM amid Opposition's 'show of unity'
Siddaramaiah was sworn in as Chief Minister for the second term, along with state Congress President D K Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister, and eight legislators as Ministers on Saturday, exactly a week after the party swept the Assembly polls in Karnataka. In a show of opposition unity, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah attended the swearing-in ceremony. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was not present during the ceremony.
