The incident happened around 5 am when a portion of the canopy and supporting pillars collapsed in a pile on the cars parked underneath.
At least one person was killed and nearly eight others were injured when a portion of the canopy at the old departure forecourt of the Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 collapsed on Friday morning.
The image shows the backside of a car crushed under the weight of the fallen debris, showcasing the impact of the structural failure. Multiple vehicles were affected as the roof caved in, causing significant damage and raising concerns about infrastructure safety at the busy airport.
Civil aviation minister K. Rammohan Naidu visited Delhi Airport this morning to inspect the collapsed structure caused by heavy rainfall. The minister assessed the damage and discussed immediate safety measures with airport authorities.
