Once the rescue pipe breaks through the debris at the Silkyara tunnel, NDRF personnel plan to pull out the trapped workers one by one with the help of wheeled stretchers tied to ropes, a senior official said. Rescue operations to evacuate 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel resumed after an overnight hurdle delayed the drilling by several hours. An iron mesh which came in the way of the auger machine drilling through the rubble at the tunnel to create an escape passage for the trapped workers has been removed, officials said.

Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, a defence spokesman said. Four Army personnel, including two captains of special forces, were killed and two others injured in the encounter on November 22.

A petition seeking review of the October 17 verdict refusing to accord legal recognition to same-sex marriages was mentioned before the Supreme Court for an open court hearing. All the judges of the constitution bench were of the view that there was some kind of discrimination against queer persons and hence they needed relief as well, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi said.

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed in New York City on Wednesday that alleges he groped a woman at a rooftop bar and restaurant in Manhattan in August 2015. Foxx's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages.

Arrested West Bengal Forest Minister Jyoti Priya Mallick's health further deteriorated, following which state-run SSKM Hospital formed a medical board to monitor his condition, an official said. The minister, who was admitted to the cardiology department of the hospital, complained of numbness in the left side of his body on November 22 morning.

Former West Indies batter Marlon Samuels was handed a six-year ban from all forms of cricket for failing to disclose benefits he received during the Abu Dhabi T10 league that could have brought the sport into disrepute, concealing information and not co-operating with the investigation officer. Samuels, who played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is, was found guilty by the Tribunal in August and his ban began on November 11.

An FIR registered pertaining to alleged illegal gambling and cyber fraud worth Rs 15,000 crore linked to Mahadev betting app has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch for investigation, an official said. The FIR was registered earlier this month at Matunga police station in Mumbai against 32 people, including the 'promoter' of the app Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, Shubham Soni and others for allegedly committing the fraud since 2019, police earlier said.

An apparently inebriated 16-year-old stabbed another teen more than 55 times, slit his throat, dragged the body through the street and did a jig while he carried out the grisly crime in east Delhi’s Welcome colony earlier this week, police said on Thursday. The accused, who was arrested on Wednesday morning and has confessed, did not know the 17-year-old who he had approached for money to buy biryani, officials said.
