Two terrorists are believed to be killed while two security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter that broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. The officials said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened firing on the security forces.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi said that she has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the water crisis in the national capital and threatened to go on an indefinite strike from June 21 if the issue is not resolved within a couple of days. "Yesterday, Haryana released 513 MGD of water to Delhi as against 613 MGD. One MGD of water is for 28,500 people. This means that water was not released for over 28 lakh people," she added.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman over the shifting of statues of Mahatma Gandhi, B R Ambedkar and other national leaders to a new location in the Parliament complex and has demanded that they be restored to their original places. The Congress has taken strong objection to the shifting of the statues.

A Delhi court extended till July 3 the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise scam. During the hearing, the counsel appearing for Kejriwal, opposed the ED's application seeking extension of his judicial custody, saying there were no grounds justifying extension of his custody.

Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its city office in connection with the ongoing investigation into the multi-crore ration distribution scam, an officer said. The central probe agency had previously asked the actress to appear before its officers on June 5 in connection with the same matter.

Curfew remained in force in the northern Odisha town of Balasore for the second day following a clash between two groups over animal slaughter in which 10 people were injured, an official said. Commercial establishments along with private and government-run institutions remained shut while all the entry points to Balasore town are sealed, he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a comprehensive strategic partnership during a summit in Pyongyang, in a bid to expand their economic and military cooperation and cement a united front against Washington. Russian state media said Putin and Kim spoke face-to-face for about two hours in a meeting that was originally planned for one hour.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson decided to forego his national contract for the 2024-25 season and also stepped down from white-ball captaincy to extend his international career, following the Black Caps' shock early exit from the T20 World Cup. The Black Caps have very little international cricket scheduled during the January window and Williamson, who had stepped down from Test captaincy in December 2022, will be available to play all three formats outside that month.
