TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh, accused of sexual abuse and land grab in Sandeshkhali, was arrested in the early hour after being on the run for 55 days that witnessed violent protests led by local women and a fierce political slug fest. After the arrest, he was taken to the Basirhat court, which sent him to 10 days in police custody.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania disqualified six Congress MLAs who had cross-voted in the recent Rajya Sabha polls for the lone seat in the state. The disqualified MLAs are Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar Bhutoo, Ravi Thakur and Chetanya Sharma.

Seven days after the death of Shubhkaran Singh during clashes between protesting farmers and Haryana security personnel at the Khanauri border point, the Punjab Police registered a case of murder. The Punjab Police has registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 114 (abettor present when an offence is committed) of the Indian Penal Code at the Patran Police station in Patiala.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee claimed that if the BJP returns to power at the Centre, the government would hike the price of each cooking gas cylinder to Rs 2,000. She also gave an ultimatum to the BJP-led central government to complete building houses under the Awas Yojana by April-end, claiming that otherwise, her government would start constructing them from May.

Government approved a rooftop solar scheme, PM-Surya Ghar: Mufti Bijli Yojna, with an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore, to provide up to Rs 78,000 subsidy for the installation of solar plants and 300 units free power for one crore households. The Prime Minister launched the scheme on 13th February 2024.

Haryana Police said they are verifying a post on social media, purportedly by UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan, claiming responsibility for the killing of Indian National Lok Dal's state unit chief Nafe Singh Rathee. The attack, which came ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, drew sharp reactions from the Opposition parties in the BJP-ruled state.

Senior India batter KL Rahul will not feature in the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala owing to an injury while pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will return to the team, the BCCI said. Rahul became unavailable after the series-opener in Hyderabad in January and as per the BCCI, he was 90 per cent fit before the third Test in Rajkot earlier this month.

Aviation regulator DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India for the incident where an 80-year-old passenger collapsed and later died after walking from plane to terminal at the Mumbai airport after not getting a wheelchair. Earlier this month, DGCA issued a show cause notice to the carrier, which submitted its response to the watchdog on February 20.

Former Intel India country head Avtar Saini was killed after a speeding cab hit him while he was cycling in Navi Mumbai township of Maharashtra, police said. The speeding cab hit Saini's bicycle from behind and the driver then tried to escape from the spot, with the bicycle's frame wedged under the front wheels of the cab, he said.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma said his government would not collect biometric details of Myanmar and Bangladesh refugees. Lalduhoma informed the assembly that the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed the state government to collect biometric data of Myanmar and Bangladesh refugees in April, 2023.
