A terrorist holed up in a border village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district was killed by security forces on Wednesday in a more than 15-hour operation during which his partner was also shot dead and a CRPF jawan lost his life, officials said.

The chief executive of EdTech firm ‘Physics Wallah’, Alakh Pandey, has moved the Supreme Court against alleged random award of grace marks by the National Testing Agency to over 1,500 candidates who took the controversy-ridden NEET-UG, 2024 for admissions to MBBS, BDS and others courses. Lawyer J Sai Deepak, who appeared for Pandey, mentioned the plea for urgent listing on Tuesday before a vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah.

Several Indians were among 41 people killed in a major fire at a building in Kuwait housing workers, according to local officials and reports emanating from the Gulf nation. The building reportedly had nearly 160 people living in it, who are workers of the same company.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP-NDA government at the Centre was a "crippled" one as the Opposition dealt a fatal blow to the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. "The truth is, what we have today is a crippled government (at the Centre). It has been beaten so badly by the INDIA bloc that it cannot walk straight. It is certainly not a government which is capable of leading the country," he said at a public meeting at Kalpetta in Wayanad district of the state.

Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya said he would file a criminal defamation case against Kolkata-based lawyer Santanu Sinha for allegedly making 'slanderous' comments against him in a social media post. "It is therefore not surprising that the Trinamul Congress and the Indian National Congress, who should have otherwise spoken for dignity of women, chose to disseminate and propagate the falsehood", the head of BJP's IT cell posted.

India said two of its nationals, who were recruited by the Russian Army, have recently been killed in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, taking the number of such deaths to four. In a firmly-worded statement, it said India has demanded that there be a "verified stop to any further recruitment of Indian nationals by the Russian Army" and that such activities would not be in "consonance with our partnership".

The All India Football Federation has sought an investigation into the controversial goal awarded to Qatar in their crucial World Cup qualifying match in Doha, AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey said while urging the concerned authorities to "address the injustice". "Victory and defeat are part and parcel of the game, we have learned to accept gracefully, although one of the two goals scored against India yesterday night left a few questions unanswered," Chaubey said in a statement.
