British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will travel to Egypt on Friday as part of his Middle East tour for crisis talks to prevent the Israel-Gaza conflict spilling over across the region. His talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi follow 'productive' discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia on October 19.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra has raised questions over the credibility of Hiranandani Group CEO Darshan Hiranandani's affidavit, alleging that it was 'drafted by the PMO' and he was forced to sign it after being 'threatened' with 'total shut down' of his family's businesses. Moitra's counsel withdrew from a case in the Delhi High Court seeking restraint orders for BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, an advocate and several media houses from circulating any alleged defamatory content against her. Moitra said she is ready to answer questions from the CBI and the Parliament's Ethics Committee if she is called in connection with allegations of she taking bribes from a noted businessman.

Taking a grim view of incidents of sewer deaths in the country, the Supreme Court said government authorities will have to pay Rs 30 lakh as compensation to the kin of those who die while cleaning sewers. "The Union and the state governments must ensure that manual scavenging is completely eradicated," the bench said.

Canada's foreign minister said that 41 of the country's diplomats have been removed from India after the Indian government said it would revoke their diplomatic immunity. Canada said it was temporarily suspending in-person operations at consulates in several Indian cities and warned of visa processing delays amid a diplomatic dispute over the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia.

Security forces seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition during search operations in Manipur's Imphal East district, a police statement said. The number of seized weapons included 36 arms including three numbers of Ak 47/56, four carbine machine guns, seven SLRs and 1,615 number of ammunition and explosives including 82 numbers of hand grenades, police said.

The launch of a single-stage liquid rocket on October 21 will signal ISRO's journey towards its ambitious human space flight programme, Gaganyaan, when the first crew module test to ensure the safety of astronauts will be conducted by the space agency. Unlike other missions by the Bengaluru-headquartered space agency, ISRO would attempt a successful launch of its Test Vehicle (TV-D1), a single-stage liquid rocket, scheduled to lift off from the first launch pad at 8 am on October 21.

Adani Cement said it has refinanced USD 3.5 billion loan it had taken for acquisition of ACC and Ambuja Cement, in sign of growing confidence of international institutions in the conglomerate. "The re-financing program of USD 3.5 billion has been concluded with a clutch of international banks with debt maturity of up to 3 years, testifies the strong support and access to capital, supplementing the solid capital prudency adopted at all portfolio companies," the firm said in a statement.
