Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday cautioned against attempts to sow differences and create divisions in the country and asserted that such efforts will not succeed.

Addressing a rally of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at the Cariappa Ground in Delhi Cantonment, Modi said the mantra of unity was the only way for India to achieve grandeur.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Srinagar's Panthachowk on Sunday, as the foot march entered its last day.

Gandhi, along with his sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, began the yatra at 10:45 am in his trademark white T-shirt. 

The Gandhis joined hundreds of Congress supporters, including women, who were seen carrying the tricolour and party flags. The yatra will cover a distance of seven kilometres up to the Sonwar area of the city. After a brief halt there, the Gandhis will reach the Lal Chowk City Centre to unfurl the tricolour. The whole area around Lal Chowk has been sealed off and a multi-layer security ring deployed around the city centre.

The black box of Mirage 2000 and a part of the flight data recorder of Sukhoi-30MKI jet, which crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, have been found from the wreckage, an official said on Sunday.

The two frontline combat aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed during a training mission in Morena on Saturday, resulting in the death of a wing commander while two other pilots ejected safely.

 President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday inaugurated Udyan Utsav-2023 -- the opening of the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens, including the rechristened 'Amrit Udyan', for the public.

The iconic Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan was renamed Amrit Udyan on Saturday. The resplendent gardens are open to the public once a year and people can visit from January 31 this time. Amrit Udyan will remain open for visitors from January 31 to March 26 between 10 am and 4 pm, a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday said.

Odisha's Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, a confidant of the chief minister, was shot and grievously injured when he got out of his car on Sunday, allegedly by a police officer who was captured, officials said.

The minister is battling for his life in a hospital. The shooting took place in Brajrajnagar town around 1 pm when the minister was on his way to attend a programme in the district.

The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Sunday attached the separatist Hurriyat Conference's office in the Rajbagh area here on the orders of a Delhi court in a terror funding case, officials said.

A team of the federal agency arrived at the Hurriyat office and pasted an attachment notice on the building's outer wall, they said "This is to inform all members of the public that the building where the office of All Party Hurriyat Conference is located at Rajbagh and is owned jointly by Nayeem Ahmad Khan, who is presently facing trial ... has been attached by the court order dated 27th January 2023 by Special NIA Court Patiala House, New Delhi," the notice read.

The Samajwadi Party declared its 62-member national executive on Sunday with Akhilesh Yadav as its national president and his uncle Shivpal Yadav as a general secretary.

Swami Prasad Maurya, who recently stirred controversy over his remarks on Ramcharitmanas, and veteran leader Azam Khan are also among the 14 national general secretaries.

At least 42 people, including women and children, were killed on Sunday after a speeding passenger bus crashed into a pillar of a bridge and fell into a ravine in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, according to officials.

The bus was carrying 48 people from provincial capital Quetta to Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, when it crashed into the pillar and subsequently careened into a ravine before catching fire in the Lasbela area, Assistant Commissioner Lasbela Hamza Anjum said.

A day after Ladakh-based education reformist Sonam Wangchuk claimed he has been placed under house arrest at his institute in Leh, the CPI(M) hit out at the government, saying this prevented him from speaking on bringing the Union Territory under Schedule 6 of the Constitution.

The police, however, has denied Wangchuk's charge and said he was only prevented from observing a five-day fast at Khardung La top.

The Gujarat government's competitive examination for the recruitment of junior clerks was cancelled hours before it was scheduled on Sunday after its question paper leaked, officials said.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist (ATS) has arrested 15 people in this connection from Vadodara, they said. As many as 9.53 lakh candidates had applied for the exam for 1,181 posts which was to be held at 2,995 centres across the state.
