Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched Rs 13,000-crore PM Vishwakarma Yojana (scheme) for traditional artisans and craftsmen, and inaugurated the Rs 5,400-crore first phase of state-of-the art India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC)- 'Yashobhoomi' at Dwarka. The prime minister said that today there is such a government in the country that provides recognition to marginalised people.

In a resolution adopted at its first meeting after being reconstituted, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) demanded that the Women's Reservation Bill be passed during the special session of Parliament which is set to start from September 18. The demand by the Congress' highest decision-making body comes amid renewed calls for passage of the Bill and speculation that it could be taken up during the five-day special session.

Kerala government on Sunday said that there were no fresh Nipah positive cases with test results of 42 samples, of persons in the high risk contact list, coming out negative. At present, six cases of Nipah infection have been confirmed in the state. Of the six, two persons have died bringing the number of active cases to 4.

Congress top brass held their second round of deliberations on formulating a strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge stressing on unity and maintaining discipline to take on adversaries and ensure success. Congress Working Committee (CWC) has alleged that the promise of a golden Telangana 'lies shattered' nine years after the state's formation as it has been 'betrayed' by governments of the BJP in Delhi and the BRS in Hyderabad.  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asked party leaders at the CWC meeting to focus on people's issues and maintain ideological clarity, while cautioning them against 'walking into traps of the BJP'.

The operation to flush out terrorists hiding in Gadole forest area in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district entered the fifth day as security forces widened the area of operation to neighbouring villages and fired several mortar shells towards the forest. The security cordon has been extended to neighbouring Posh Kreeri area as a precautionary measure to ensure that terrorists don't slip into civilian habitation.

The headless carcass of a tiger was found in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district. Following autopsy, the carcass was disposed of as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, while the viscera will be sent to a laboratory for examination, a BTR release said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated over 1,500 newly built houses in 19 Sri Lankan Tamils Rehabilitation Camps spread across 13 districts of the state. In total, 1,591 houses, constructed at a cost of Rs 79.70 crore, were inaugurated by the CM.

All necessary arrangements, including a tight security cover, have been finalised for the first-of-its-kind air show by the Indian Air Force in Jammu on September 21 and 22. Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft is also expected to showcase low-level aerobatics and manoeuvring during the grand and spectacular event, which is being jointly organised by the IAF and civil administration to mark the 76 years of accession of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union and the diamond jubilee of the Air Force Station Jammu.

India and Brazil have started talks to mutually resolve a sugar related trade dispute at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and as part of the solution the South American nation may share ethanol production technology with New Delhi. In 2019, Brazil, Australia and Guatemala dragged India into the WTO's dispute settlement mechanism alleging that New Delhi's sugar subsidies to farmers are inconsistent with global trade rules.
