Pakistan conducted 'precision military strikes' against what it called 'terrorist hideouts' in Iran's Siestan-Balochistan province that killed 9 people, a day after Islamabad recalled its envoy from Tehran and suspended all planned high-level bilateral visits following Iranian missile attacks in Balochistan. It said a number of terrorists were killed during the intelligence-based operation - codenamed 'Marg Bar Sarmachar'.
All central government offices across the country will remain closed for half a day on January 22, due to the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, a Personnel Ministry order issued on Thursday said. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said that the decision has been taken in view of the 'overwhelming' public sentiments.

A village volunteer was killed in a gunfight between two warring communities in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, officials said. Following the killing, women in large numbers held a rally in Imphal to protest against violence in the state and demanded the removal of the chairman of the inter-agency Unified Command.

There was no report of any casualties and the fire on the vessel was contained, officials said.
A Delhi court dismissed the bail application of Neelam Azad, an accused in the Parliament security breach case. The court had on January 13 sent all the accused in the case, including Azad, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde and Mahesh Kumawat, to judicial custody after they were produced before it on expiry of their police remand.
Expelled Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra approached the Delhi High Court challenging a notice by the Directorate of Estates to vacate the government bungalow that was allotted to her but was cancelled following her expulsion. The notice asking the Trinamul Congress leader to vacate the bungalow immediately was issued to her on January 16.
Three security personnel sustained injuries in an explosion near the Line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, official sources said. The troops were patrolling the forward area in Nowshera sector when the incident occurred, the sources said.
