Several opposition leaders on Tuesday claimed they had received an alert from Apple warning them of "state-sponsored attackers trying to remotely compromise" their iPhones and posted purported screenshots of the message on their X handles. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Trinamool Congress' Mahua Moitra, Aam Aadmi Party's Raghav Chadha, Congress' Shashi Tharoor and his party's media and publicity department head Pawan Khera shared the message from Apple on X. CPI(M)general secretary Sitaram Yechury also received a similar message.

After some of the most vocal critics of the government said they received warnings that attempts have been made by state-sponsored attackers to steal information from their iPhones, Apple in a statement stated it does not attribute threat notifications, such as the ones received by some MPs belonging to Opposition parties, to any specific state-sponsored attackers and that it cannot provide information on what causes such warnings. Tt is possible that some threat notifications may be false alarms and some attacks may not be detected.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday said she will appear before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on November 2 but also expressed her desire to cross-examine businessman Darshan Hiranandani over the allegations made against her in the cash-for-query case. Moitra had requested a hearing date after November 5 to accommodate her existing commitments but was denied an extension beyond November 2.

A sub-divisional police officer was killed on Tuesday after being shot at by suspected tribal militants at Moreh in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, police said. Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anand received a bullet injury after the group of insurgents fired on policemen when they were inspecting the newly constructed helipad at Eastern ground in the border town dominated by Kuki-Zo community people, a senior officer said. In an emergency meeting, the Manipur cabinet on Tuesday approved Rs 50 lakh ex gratia for the next of the kin of Chingtham Anand.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday granted temporary bail for a period of four weeks to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the AP Skill Development case. Advocates representing Naidu had informed the court that he needed the bail to undergo cataract surgery. Granting the interim bail on health grounds, the bench directed the former CM to appear before the Superintendent of the central prison in Rajamahendravaram on or before November 28.

 A case has been registered against Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar for allegedly making statements that promote enmity between different groups, a move which was slammed by the BJP on Tuesday. BJP Kerala chief K Surendran alleged that this action by the Pinarayi Vijayan government was aimed at "helping" and "encouraging" divisive forces and those with extremist views. "It indicates the double standards of the Pinarayi Vijayan government," he said while speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram. The party said it would face the case against the central minister both politically and legally.

Police have arrested 49 people in connection with the violence in Maharashtra's Beed district during the ongoing agitation for Maratha reservation, an official said on Tuesday.  The Maharashtra government on Tuesday accepted the first report of a committee headed by retired high court judge Sandeep Shinde, appointed to decide the procedure for granting Kunbi caste certificates to the Marathas in the Marathwada region. Earlier, A group of people set ablaze a panchayat samiti office in Maharashtra's Jalna district during the ongoing agitation over the demand for reservation to the Maratha community, police said on Tuesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi on Tuesday claimed there are apprehensions that the Enforcement Directorate will arrest Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 2 after questioning him in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The ruling party in Delhi also alleged that the BJP was trying to finish it off by putting its top leaders behind bars.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has received a threat email from an unidentified person seeking Rs 400 crore, police said on Tuesday. Ambani's company received the email on Monday. It is the third threat email sent to Ambani in four days, an official said.
