JD(U) president Nitish Kumar resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar, saying 'things were not working well' for him in the Mahagathbandhan and the Opposition bloc INDIA, and staked claim to form a new government with the BJP, which he had dumped less than 18 months ago. After submitting his resignation to Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Kumar, who is likely to form a new government by the evening, said: "I have submitted my resignation to the Governor. The government that was in place now comes to an end. I have let it go".

India is now cooperating with Canada in the ongoing probe into the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia and bilateral ties are improving following months of tensions over the matter, a former Canadian national security advisor has said, describing the changing relationship as an 'evolution.' This is the first time a Canadian official has acknowledged that India has moved things forward following allegations of non-cooperation against India by Canada amid tensions over Nijjar's killing.

The head of the main UN aid agency in the war-battered Gaza Strip warned late Saturday that its work is collapsing after nine countries decided to suspend funding over allegations that several agency employees participated in the deadly Hamas attack on Israel four months ago. Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, said he was shocked such decisions were taken as 'famine looms' in the Israel-Hamas war.

A 45-year-old woman died and 17 people were injured when a stage set up for a religious function at the Kalkaji temple in Delhi collapsed in the early hours, police said. According to police, a 'jagran' (religious function) was organised at the Mahant Parishar of Kalkaji temple and around 1,600 people attended it.
