Chief Minister Nitish Kumar offered his apologies both inside and outside Bihar assembly for comments made a day before on the importance of women's education to control population growth which saw the Opposition raising a storm of protest and forcing an adjournment of the house. The Bihar Assembly was adjourned till 2 pm, soon after the commencement of proceedings, as the Opposition BJP kept demanding the resignation of Nitish Kumar. The NCW has demanded strong action from the Bihar assembly speaker against Nitish Kumar over his remarks and demanded his apology.

Winter session of Parliament is likely to commence in the second week of December and could conclude ahead of Christmas, sources said. Three key bills which seek to replace the IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act are likely to be taken up for consideration during the session as the standing committee on Home has already adopted the three reports recently.

In view of air pollution in the national capital, the December winter break of all schools has been rescheduled and it will be now from November 9 to November 18, a circular of the Delhi Directorate of Education stated. The air quality in Delhi and its suburbs dropped to the severe category again, with smoke from post-harvest paddy straw burning in neighbouring states accounting for one-third of the air pollution in the national capital.

There are nearly 80 lakh graduates in Bihar, which is around 6.11 per cent of the total population, says the caste survey report tabled in Bihar assembly. A whopping 95.49 per cent of people of Bihar don't own any vehicle, while only 3.8 per cent have two-wheelers and a minuscule 0.11 per cent have cars, according to the report.

Youtuber Elvish Yadav was questioned by the Noida Police over suspected use of snake venom at a party, officials said, even as an investigation by the veterinary department found venom glands missing in all nine snakes that were rescued last week. The police have already applied for remand of the five people who were arrested in the case.
