The arrest of ICICI Bank's former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a loan fraud case was 'without application of mind and due regard to the law', amounting to an 'abuse of power', the Bombay High Court has said. In the order made available, the court said the CBI has been unable to demonstrate the existence of circumstances or supportive material based on which the decision to arrest was taken.

National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma accused the West Bengal government of stifling the voices of numerous women in Sandeshkhali during protests against alleged TMC-led atrocities, prompting a rebuttal from the ruling party, which claimed that the panel was acting under the 'influence of the BJP'. The NCW chairperson alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government was trying to 'suppress the voice of women so that the truth would not come out'.

The Centre's proposal of buying pulses, maize and cotton by government agencies at MSP will be discussed by farmers, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said but asserted that they will not back out of their demand for a legal guarantee for minimum support price for crops. Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Arjun Munda and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai had held the fourth round of talks with the farmer leaders in Chandigarh.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that 'not inviting' the Dalits, backward and even the President to the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya was an insult to them. Accusing the BJP government of neglecting 73 per cent of the country's Dalits, backward classes and tribals, the former Congress president said that they are being ignored and preference is being given to the capitalists.

Congress has been offered 17 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party said and asserted that its chief Akhilesh Yadav will join the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Raebareli only if the proposal is accepted. He, however, refused to identify the seats offered to the Congress.

Manipur government has ordered a magisterial probe into the looting of arms from an India Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp at Chingarel in Imphal East district on February 13 to 'ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the incident'. The enquiry report is to be submitted to the government in 30 days from the date of issue of the order.

Russian investigators have not yet established the cause of Alexei Navalny's death and it is unclear how long it will take for official conclusions to be made, his mother was told, Navalny's spokeswoman said. Navalny's mother, Lyudmila, was told on February 17 at the prison colony that he had perished from 'sudden death syndrome', a vague term for different hearth conditions that end in death, according to Navalny's team.

Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said that the party-backed independent candidates, who won the February 8 elections, will join the Sunni Ittehad Council. Though independent candidates backed by the party won the maximum number of seats in Parliament, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) - have announced that they will form a coalition government after the February 8 elections resulted in a hung Parliament.
