In a fresh round of violence in ethnic strife-torn Manipur, mutilated bodies of three youths were found following heavy gunfire at Kuki Thowai village in Ukhrul district. Bodies of the three persons bore injury marks apparently made using sharp knives and their limbs were also chopped off.

ISRO said Chandrayaan-3's Lander Module has successfully undergone a deboosting (slowing down) operation taking it closer to the Moon, and its health is normal. The Lander Module comprising the lander (Vikram) and the rover (Pragyan), will undergo the second deboosting operation on August 20. The soft landing on the Lunar south pole is scheduled on August 23.

The Supreme Court adjourned for two weeks the hearing on a plea filed by former JNU student Umar Khalid seeking bail in a case lodged under anti-terror law UAPA over his alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the northeast Delhi riots of February 2020. Supreme Court judge Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra had on August 9 recused himself from hearing Khalid's plea.

Vimal Kumar Yadav (35), a journalist who worked for a Hindi daily, was shot dead by unidentified people at his residence in Premnagar village of Bihar. The Opposition lashed out at the government and claimed the incident showed 'democracy is in danger in Bihar'.

Day after the scuffle between activists of ultra-left Revolutionary Students Federation (RSF) and BJP's Yuva Morcha near Jadavpur University, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari lodged a police complaint alleging a 'premeditated attack' on him by the Naxalite outfit. Adhikari said in the complaint that he is entitled to Z category security in view of the threat perception as assessed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to declare the massive damage caused by heavy rains as a state calamity. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said rescue operations are going on in full swing and the state government is making efforts to help the affected families especially those whose houses have been damaged in the flash floods and landslides with its own resources.

India's first 3D-printed post office built with a robotic printer using 3D printing technology that deposits concrete layer-by-layer in accordance with computerised 3D model drawing input was inaugurated in Bangalore. The entire construction activity was completed in a period of 45 days as compared to about six to eight months taken by the conventional method.

Pakistan has appointed Mushaal Hussain Malik, wife of the jailed Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, as a special advisor to the country's newly appointed caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Among other four special advisors, Jawad Sohrab Malilk has been appointed SAPM for overseas Pakistanis, vice admiral (retired) Iftikhar Rao as an advisor on maritime affairs, TV anchor and writer Wasih Shah on tourism, and Syeda Arifa Zehra as an advisor on federal education and professional training.
