West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the BSF of scaring voters in the bordering areas of the state at the behest of the saffron camp and asked the police administration to keep a close watch on their activities. "I have information that in the run up to the panchayat election, some BSF officials are visiting the border areas, threatening voters and forcing them not to vote. I will ask people not to be scared of their tactics and fearlessly participate in the elections," she told an election rally in the bordering district. 

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) on Monday sent a letter to the West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) seeking details of the need for additional 485 companies of central forces, for which it has sent a requisition, an official said.

Twelve bunkers have been destroyed in Manipur and six mortar shells seized during search operations by security forces, police said.

The bunkers were destroyed in the last 24 hours during the search operations in Tamenglong, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Kakching and Churachandpur districts, police said on Sunday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a meeting with senior cabinet colleagues and officials soon after his return from State visits to the US and Egypt. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Urban Affairs and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. 

Senior officials including P K Mishra, the principal secretary to the prime minister, were also present.

The Delhi Police has received a dramatic CCTV footage that captured the alleged gunpoint robbery inside the busy Pragati Maidan tunnel where four motorcycle-borne men intercepted a car and looted about Rs 2 lakh from a delivery agent and his associate.

Officials said on Monday the purported incident was caught in one of the CCTV cameras installed inside the 1.5-km tunnel that connects New Delhi with Sarai Kale Khan and Noida.

Meta on Monday announced it has partnered with the Confederation of All India Traders to upskill 10 lakh traders on how to use the WhatsApp Business App over the next three years in a bid to reach more customers and scale up their businesses.

The owner of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook also announced the launch of Meta Small Business Academy, a new programme to enable emerging entrepreneurs to learn digital marketing skills and earn a certification.

A man has allegedly slit the throat of a person and tried to drink his blood, suspecting him of having an affair with his wife, in Chintamani taluk of this district, police said.

Police, who got to know about the crime after coming across a video of the incident in circulation, arrested the accused on Sunday. The incident is said to have taken place on June 19, and the victim has survived the attack, police said.

The Meteorological department on Monday forecast heavy rain in the coastal districts of West Bengal for the next two days owing to a low pressure area over north interior Odisha and south Jharkhand.

Rainfall occurred in most parts of south Bengal and many places in the sub-Himalayan region of the state since Sunday morning, the weather office said. Heavy rain is likely to occur in the coastal districts of South and North 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram owing to a low pressure area, the Met department said in its forecast for the next two days.

Hundreds of commuters were stranded near Aut in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district as the Chandigarh-Manali highway was blocked following flash floods and landslides, officials said on Monday.

Flash floods were witnessed in Khotinallah near Aut on the Pandoh–Kullu stretch due to a heavy downpour and the commuters have been stranded since Sunday evening.

Legendary Indian woman cricketer Jhulan Goswami and two English players in Heather Knight and Eoin Morgan have joined the MCC World Cricket Committee (WCC) ahead of its meeting at the Lord's, the club said on Monday.

Besides Goswami, England women's team skipper Knight and 2019 ODI World Cup winning captain Morgan too have joined the WCC, which is an independent body comprised of current and former international cricketers, umpires, and officials from across the world.

A stolen bus rammed into an app-cab near the Clock Tower near Lake Town on VIP Road in northeast Kolkata, killing three passengers early on Monday morning, police said.

Around 1.30am, police were apprised that a bus of route number 44 (WBO4E/2157) was stolen from Baguiati bus stand. All units were alerted.
