Trinamul Congress MP Mahua Moitra pleaded innocence to the 'cash-for-query' allegation levelled against her and told a parliamentary committee that the charge is motivated by animus of advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai after she broke her personal relations with him, sources said. Opposition members of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee stormed out of a meeting along with Mahua Moitra, accusing the panel's chairperson of asking the TMC MP personal and unethical questions.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in an excise policy-linked case and wrote to the agency demanding withdrawal of the notice summoning him, claiming it was 'illegal and politically motivated'. The 15-party United Opposition Forum, Assam has condemned the ED summons to Kejriwal and demanded that it be immediately withdrawn, the forum's chief spokesperson Akhil Gogoi said.

A Delhi court sent NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha and its HR department head Amit Chakravarty to judicial custody till December 1 in a case lodged under anti-terror law UAPA over allegations that the news portal received money to spread pro-China propaganda. The duo was arrested on October 3.

Women in Telangana can benefit up to Rs 4,000 if Congress is voted to power in the November 30 assembly polls, by way of social pension, savings on LPG cylinder and free travel in government buses, AICC former chief Rahul Gandhi said . "Telangana women were the most affected by the loot of the chief minister here. The Congress party has decided to deposit the amount looted by the chief minister in your bank accounts," Rahul said.

Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested an Enforcement Directorate officer, posted in Manipur, and his associate here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 15 lakh for settling a matter related to a chit fund case, officials said. Sources in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that the agency will initiate a probe after lodging a criminal case of money laundering against the officer.

Several legislators cutting across party lines in Maharashtra staged an agitation outside the Mantralaya, the state secretariat in south Mumbai, in support of the demand for reservation to the Maratha community. Residents in many villages of Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district launched a ‘jail bharo’ (court arrest) protest in support of the Maratha quota agitation, an official said. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said only the Union government can find a solution to the Maratha quota issue, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were busy with poll campaigns while Maharashtra was 'burning'.

Six persons were arrested allegedly for assaulting, stripping and urinating on two youths from Scheduled Caste in the district, police said. The arrested, all in the 21 to 25 years age group, said to be under the influence of alcohol, accosted the youths and asked them to reveal their caste identity, said police.

CERT-In has started its probe in the Apple threat notification issue raised by opposition MPs, and a notice has been sent to the company, IT Secretary S Krishnan said. Several Opposition leaders on October 31 claimed they have received an alert from Apple warning them of 'state-sponsored attackers trying to remotely compromise' their iPhones and alleged hacking by the government, a charge IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw rejected but assured a thorough probe.

A student of IIT-BHU was allegedly molested and stripped by three motorcycle-borne men, who also recorded a video of the act, near her hostel in Varanasi. On the basis of the woman's complaint, an FIR has been registered under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and under provisions of the IT Act at Lanka police station, police said.
