Gun salutes sounded across the UK as St Edward's Crown was placed on the King's head by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
The doors of Westminster Abbey have been opened so that guests and foreign dignitaries can take their seats ahead of the coronation ceremony.
More than 2,000 people are expected inside the Abbey with representation from 203 countries and over 100 heads of state having accepted invitations to attend proceedings, among them Germany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The death toll in the Manipur carnage increased to 54, officials said even as unofficial sources put the figure at several scores. Life returned to a wary normalcy in Imphal Valley on Saturday as shops and markets reopened and cars started plying on the roads.

Speaking to reporters here, he said, “I do not know about the audio. That will be investigated. We will take it seriously and get it investigated."
The Army has grounded the entire fleet of Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv following the crash of one of the choppers in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, military sources said.
A technician was killed and two pilots were injured in the incident.
As a precautionary measure, the ALH Dhruv fleet has been temporarily grounded, the sources said.
Medical entrance exam NEET-UG scheduled on May 7 has been postponed in Manipur in view of the law-and-order situation there, the National Testing Agency announced Saturday.
The exam date for candidates whose test centre was in Manipur will be announced soon.
"NEET (UG)-2023 exam postponed for the candidates who were allotted examination centres in Manipur and their exam will be held at a later date," a senior NTA official said.

“We have already made a law against religious conversion in Madhya Pradesh. Since this film creates awareness, everyone should watch this film. Parents, children and daughters should watch it. That's why the Madhya Pradesh government is giving tax-free status to the movie ‘The Kerala Story’,” Chouhan said.
Adani Power Ltd (APL) has posted around 13 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 5,242 crore for March quarter 2022-23.
The company had clocked Rs 4,645 crore net profit in January-March 2021-22, it said in a statement Friday.
"Consolidated PAT (profit after tax) for Q4 FY23 grows...on account of lower finance cost as well as certain reversals consequent to the scheme of amalgamation(of six subsidiaries)," APL said.
In a rare incident, a woman passenger was bitten by a scorpion onboard an Air India flight from Nagpur to Mumbai last month.
On landing at the airport, the passenger was attended by a doctor, subsequently treated at a hospital and discharged, the airline said in a statement on Saturday.
Air India said there was an "extremely rare and unfortunate incident involving a scorpion biting a passenger onboard our flight AI 630 on April 23, 2023".
Two men were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stalking and harassing the wife of IPL team Kolkata Knight Rider's captain Nitish Rana in west Delhi, police said.
A senior police officer said that a case of stalking and harassment was registered at Kirti Nagar police station and two men have been arrested.
The accused were arrested from their residences and further investigation is in progress, the DCP said.
