To curb the rising pollution in the national capital, the Delhi Fire Services has joined hands with the Delhi government to spray water at several hotspots. All primary schools in the national capital will remain shut till November 10 in view of rising pollution levels in the city, Delhi Education Minister Atishi announced. A toxic haze lingered over Delhi for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday as pollution levels once again reached the severe plus category due to unfavourable wind conditions, particularly calm winds during the night.

Canada's investigation into the murder of a Sikh extremist has been tainted by a high-level Canadian official's public statements, India's High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma has said as he asked Ottawa to provide evidence to back up its allegations. "Where is the evidence? Where is the conclusion of the investigation? I would go a step further and say now the investigation has already been tainted," Verma said.

Nepal’s authorities scrambled to rush aid to those affected by the earthquake on November 5 that has killed at least 157 people and left a trail of destruction in the Himalayan nation's remote mountainous region. Thousands of people in western Nepal's mountainous region were forced to spend November 4 night under the open sky in the biting cold after the earthquake. A municipality in the epicentre of the deadly earthquake in Nepal's Jajarkot district reported no death from the tremor even though people were killed in other parts of the district and neighbouring Rukum West.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the opposition Congress, saying two of its senior leaders were fighting in Madhya Pradesh to establish their sons and to capture the party organisation in the state. Addressing a public meeting in Seoni district of MP ahead of the state elections, Modi said the Congress, despite being in power for five-six decades in the country after Independence, did not do anything for the welfare of the tribal community.

Activists supporting the Maratha reservation have claimed that the community members were recognised as Kunbi community during the Nizam era and hence all Marathas should be treated as Kunbis under the OBC category. The administration in Thane district has set up a special cell as per the directions of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to verify caste records for issuing Kunbi caste certificates to eligible persons from the Maratha community.

Amid allegations of black marketing of tickets for the World Cup cricket match between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens, Calcutta Police issued a notice to BCCI president Roger Binny seeking information on ticket sales for the event. Calcutta Police has so far arrested 19 people and seized 108 tickets from their possession, besides registering seven cases in connection with the black marketing of tickets.

Ruling BRS MLC in Telangana K Kavitha said the Bharat Jagruti, a cultural organisation led by her, is discussing with legal experts on taking up a legal battle for the quick implementation of women's reservation legislation. Observing that several organisations and parties are demanding immediate implementation of the women's quota, she demanded that the Centre take measures for its implementation of the reservation from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal to grant maternity, child care and child adoption leave to women soldiers, sailors and air warriors on par with their officer counterparts. It said the measure is going to improve the work conditions for women in the military as it will help them balance their professional and family lives in a better manner.

A government school principal in Haryana's Jind district has been arrested for alleged sexual harassment of over 50 girl students, police said. The Haryana Police had on October 30 booked the school principal, days after he was suspended by the Jind administration over allegations of sexual harassment.
