Hamas pledged to confront Israeli attacks with 'full force' after Israel's military widened its air and ground attacks on the Palestinian enclave, suggesting that a long promised ground offensive had begun. Israel struck targets in the Gaza Strip with stepped-up bombardment and artillery fire overnight knocking out communications and creating a near-blackout of information by largely cutting off the besieged enclave's 2.3 million people from contact with the outside world.
The U.N. General Assembly approved a nonbinding resolution on October 27 calling for a 'humanitarian truce' in Gaza leading to a cessation of hostilities between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers. Terrorism is a 'malignancy' and knows no borders, nationality or race and the world should not buy into any justification of terror acts, India has told the UN General Assembly as it abstained on a resolution on the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The Lok Sabha's Ethics Committee turned down TMC MP Mahua Moitra's request to call her after November 5 while allowing a two-day extension, as the panel asked her to appear before it for 'oral evidence' on November 2 in relation to the cash-for-query allegation against her. She had on October 27 written to the committee, which is probing the allegations against her, expressing her inability to appear before it on October 31 as scheduled and saying she will be available only after November 5.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has received an email threatening to shoot him dead if he failed to pay Rs 20 crore, a Mumbai police official said. Last year, the Mumbai police had arrested a man from Bihar's Darbhanga for making death threat calls to Mukesh Ambani and his family members.

"The accused was involved in transnational conspiracy hatched by the Myanmar-based leadership of terror outfits operationally active in the North Eastern Indian states to exploit the current ethnic unrest in the state of Manipur to wage war against the Government of India and execute terror attacks there by exacerbating the current situation...," the agency told the court.

"BSNL 4G service is ready for launch in Punjab in December. We have already done the hardening required for a network with 200 sites. We are in the process of installing 3,000 sites in Punjab," Purwar said.
