Senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said party strongman Shajahan Sheikh, who has been accused of sexual atrocities and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali in West Bengal, will be arrested in seven days. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had claimed that Shahjahan could not be arrested because of legal tangles and stay on FIRs filed by the police.
Worship will continue in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, the Allahabad High Court said while dismissing an appeal that had challenged the district court's order to this effect. The high court dismissed two appeals filed by the Anjuman Intezamia Mosque Committee challenging the district judge's January 17 order that appointed the district magistrate as the receiver of the 'Vyas Tehkhana' and January 31 order by which he allowed 'puja' to be performed there.
Several Indians who worked as support staff to the Russian army were discharged following India's demand, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. According to media reports, several Indians have been working as security helpers in the Russian military and they were forced to even fight with Russian soldiers in certain areas along Russia's border with Ukraine.

Police on Monday booked a former Haryana MLA and 11 other people in connection with the murder of the Indian National Lok Dal's state unit president Nafe Singh Rathee and a party worker in Bahadurgarh near Delhi. In an FIR registered, police named former MLA Naresh Kaushik, Karambir Rathee, Ramesh Rathee, Satish Rathee, Gaurav Rathee, Rahul and Kamal. The FIR also mentions five unnamed people.

The corporate affairs ministry has asked its field officers to expedite the inspection of the books of BYJU'S and submit the report, a senior official said on Monday as trouble continues to brew at the edtech firm. In July 2023, the ministry had asked the office of the Regional Director in Hyderabad to conduct an inspection of the company Think & Learn Pvt Ltd, which is registered in Bengaluru.
