Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed in the Supreme Court the grant of interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam, saying the right to campaign in elections is neither fundamental nor constitutional. "It is relevant to note that the right to campaign for an election is neither a fundamental right nor a constitutional right and not even a legal right," the agency said.

Congress sought time to meet the Haryana governor in the wake of the situation arising out of three Independent MLAs withdrawing support to the BJP government, with Bhupinder Singh Hooda saying the "minority" dispensation should resign on moral grounds. It said that a Congress delegation led by Deputy CLP leader Aftab Ahmed, and B B Batra, chief whip CLP, and other Congress leaders want to meet the governor on May 10.

Air India Express cancelled 85 flights or around 23 per cent of the total daily capacity as the disruptions due to the cabin crew shortage continue and said Air India will operate services on 20 of its routes to minimise inconvenience to passengers. Without directly mentioning about the termination letters, the airline said it is taking appropriate steps against certain individuals as their actions have caused grave inconvenience to thousands of passengers.

JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into the sexual abuse charges against his nephew, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, is "losing track", and said his party would submit a memorandum to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. Also raising questions regarding the investigation against Prajwal's father and his brother, MLA H D Revanna, who is facing kidnapping charges, Kumaraswamy asked why the woman who was allegedly kidnapped has not been produced before the court so far, after she was rescued.

A thundersquall accompanied by hailstorms lashed Calcutta and adjoining districts of South and North 24 Parganas. The districts in south Bengal, which suffered a long spell of heatwave with the highest temperature in Calcutta breaking a 50-year record at 43 degrees Celsius, got relief from the scorching heat from early this week with conditions becoming favourable for thunderstorms and rain in the region.

Trinamul Congress accused the BJP of spreading falsehood about the incidents of Sandeskhali, after several newly-surfaced videos claimed that a local female BJP leader made multiple women sign on blank papers which were later filled up as complaints of sexual assault against TMC leaders. In a bid to reassert its claims, the TMC shared a fresh set of videos of purported women residents of Sandeshkhali who alleged they were “manipulated” by the BJP into filing “false rape cases”.

Wrestling's world governing body UWW has suspended Bajrang Punia till the end of this year following NADA's decision to hand him a provisional suspension for refusing to undergo a dope test. Bajrang, one of the country's most successful wrestlers, was suspended by NADA on April 23 after being served a whereabouts failure notice on April 18.

Indian Council of Medical Research has called for avoiding protein supplements for building body mass and has recommended restricting salt intake, minimising sugar and ultra-processed foods and reading information on food labels to make informed and healthy food choices. The DGIs have been drafted by a multi-disciplinary committee of experts led by Dr Hemalatha R, Director, ICMR-NIN and have undergone several scientific reviews. Seventeen guidelines have been listed in it.

Edtech firm Think and Learn -- owner of Byju's brand -- has slashed course subscription fees by 30-40 per cent and hiked sales incentives by 50-100 per cent, according to sources. "The annual subscription for the Byju's Learning App is now available at a yearly early price of Rs 12,000 (inclusive of taxes), while Byju's classes and Byju's Tuition Centres (BTC) are priced at Rs 24,000 and Rs 36,000, respectively, for a complete year of classes," sources privy to the development said.
