Sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began questioning Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his official residence here on Saturday afternoon in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. The CISF, tasked with the security of the ED officials, are using high-resolution body cameras to keep track of activities around Soren’s residence.

A Czech high court has ruled that Indian national Nikhil Gupta, detained in a prison here on murder-for-hire charges in an alleged assassination attempt on a Khalistani extremist on American soil, can be extradited to the US, according to local media reports. Gupta, arrested in the Czech Republic on June 30 2023, is currently held in Prague's Pankrak prison.

Election Commission would require an estimated Rs 10,000 crore every 15 years to procure new Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) if simultaneous polls are held for Lok Sabha and assemblies, according to the poll body. According to estimates, a total of 11.80 lakh polling stations would be required to be set up across India for Lok Sabha polls this year.

The government issued an advisory to media outlets and social media platforms cautioning them against publishing any false or manipulated content related to the January 22 Ram temple event in Ayodhya.  The consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya will be held on January 22 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries in attendance.

Delhi Police detained Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad and a group of Delhi University students during a protest in North Campus in support of former assistant professor Ritu Singh. Around 80 people, including Aazad, were detained and taken to Burari police station.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against one person in the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan petrol bomb attack case, officials said. The accused allegedly hurled two petrol bombs in quick succession at the Raj Bhavan's gate number 1 in Chennai on October 25, 2023, which resulted in an explosion and damage to government property.

An Israeli missile strike on Syria's capital Damascus killed a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and wounded others, a security source in the regional pro-Syria alliance said. The security source, part of a network of groups close to Syria's government and its major ally Iran, said the multi-storey building was used by Iranian advisers supporting President Bashar al-Assad's government, and that it was entirely flattened by 'precision-targeted Israeli missiles'.

Delhi Police said it has arrested a man in connection with a deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna that was widely circulated on social media. On November 10, an FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code sections 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation) and sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police's Special Cell.

Pakistan's former captain Shoaib Malik announced that he has married a second time to the country's popular actor Sana Javed in Karachi after getting divorced from Sania Mirza. The cricketer who was previously married to Indian tennis star, Sania, with whom he has a son, released a photograph on a social media platform with his new wife, with the words 'And We created you in pairs'.
