Wearing black clothes, several opposition MPs on Monday took out a march from parliament to Vijay Chowk to protest against the government over the Adani issue and Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

The protesters, including Congress MP Sonia Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, gathered near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament complex and raised slogans against the government.

MPs of various opposition parties, including Congress, TMC, BRS and SP, met at Parliament complex on Monday to discuss a strategy to take forward the Adani issue as well as Rahul Gandhi's disqualification matter in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

The Supreme Court on Monday sought a response from the Centre, Gujarat government and others on a plea filed by Bilkis Bano, who was gang-raped and seven members of her family were killed during the 2002 post-Godhra riots.

Bano has challenged remission of sentence of 11 convicts in the case.

President Droupadi Murmu arrived here on Monday for a two-day visit to West Bengal.

Murmu was received by Governor CV Ananda Bose, and state ministers Firhad Hakim and Sujit Bose before she was accorded a guard of honour at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here by the defence forces.

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly killed after being sexually molested by one of her neighbours in Calcutta’s Tiljala area, prompting local people to blockade roads and railway tracks and vandalise police vehicles on Monday.

The girl, a resident of Kustia's Shri Dhar Roy Road, was missing since Sunday morning and after an extensive search, policemen found her body in one of the flats in an apartment block in the locality, the police said.

Israel's Airports Authority said on Monday departing flights from the country's main international airport in Tel Aviv were canceled after a strike called to protest the government's planned judicial changes.

The head of the workers union at Ben Gurion Airport, Pinchas Idan, said: "I have ordered an immediate halt to takeoffs at the airport."

India has requested the Nepal government not to allow fugitive radical preacher Amritpal Singh, who is believed to be hiding in Nepal, to flee to a third country and arrest him if he attempts to escape using Indian passport or any other fake passport, a media report said on Monday.

In a letter sent to the Department of Consular Services on Saturday, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has requested the government agencies to arrest Singh if he tries to flee from Nepal, the Kathmandu Post newspaper reported.

A buyer for Silicon Valley Bank's deposits and loans helped cast an uneasy calm over fragile markets on Monday, which have been roiled by worries of a credit crunch and systemic bank stress.

First Citizens BancShares Inc bought all the loans and deposits of SVB and gave the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp equity appreciation rights in its stock worth as much as $500 million in return, the FDIC said in statement.

Jubilations erupted in the RJD camp on Monday as news spread that Tejashwi Yadav, the party's de facto leader and the deputy chief minister of Bihar, has become a father.

Yadav, who has stayed back in Delhi by the side of his wife Rajshree after an interrogation by the CBI last weekend, broke the news on his Twitter handle and also shared a picture of himself holding the baby girl.
