Congress MLA Mamman Khan has been arrested in connection with the July 31 Nuh violence case as the administration imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 in the district and suspended mobile Internet services for two days. Security has been tightened across the district, especially in and around the court complex in Nuh where Khan is expected to be produced by the police later in the day, sources said.

As many as 175 people were killed, and 1,108 others injured while 32 are missing in the ethnic strife that has rocked Manipur since early May. 4,786 houses were set on fire and 386 religious structures vandalised. Of the weapons that have been 'lost', 1,359 firearms and 15,050 ammunition were recovered.

Drones have been pressed into service to pinpoint the location of the terrorists who have taken positions in the forest area on a hilly terrain in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said as the operation to flush out the ultras entered the third day. A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module has been unearthed in Baramulla district, with the arrest of two militant associates and recovery of arms and ammunition from them.

Two bodies were found as the search operation continued for the people who went missing in the boat capsize in Bagmati river in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. Eleven persons, mostly school-going children and women, went missing after a boat with around 30 people capsized near Madhur Patti ghat on September 14 morning when it was on the way to Bhattgama ghat on the opposite side.

A 39-year-old man tested positive for the Nipah virus, which was transmitted to him through direct contact with an infected person who died on August 30, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said. Avoiding unnecessary travel to the affected area in Kerala and intensifying fever surveillance in the bordering districts are among the guidelines issued by Karnataka government following the Nipah outbreak in the neighbouring state.

Supreme Court extended by two weeks the protection from coercive action it has granted to four members of the Editors Guild of India in connection with two FIRs lodged against them in Manipur for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups. On September 4, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said a police case had been filed based on a complaint against the president and three members of the EGI, and accused them of trying to 'provoke clashes' in the state. A second FIR against the four had the additional charge of defamation.

Aditya L1 spacecraft, India's first space-based mission to study the Sun, during the early hours, underwent the fourth earth-bound manoeuvre successfully, ISRO said. The first, second and third earth-bound manoeuvre was successfully performed on September 3, 5 and 10 respectively.

Spanish football league La Liga signed an agreement with the West Bengal government to set up an academy in the state for nurturing young talents. Banerjee, who is on a 12-day trip to Spain, met La Liga president Javier Tebas in Madrid and held a closed-door meeting, which focussed on strengthening relations through linking sports and cultural institutions.

Apple said it would issue a software update for iPhone 12 users in France to settle a row with regulators that ordered the suspension of the phone's sale due to breaches of radiation exposure limits. Belgium, which said it would review potential health risks linked to the iPhone 12 in the wake of the French suspension, also welcomed the move but said it would continue its own review of the phone and other models.
