Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed the issue of China releasing a 'standard map' that laid claim over Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as 'very serious', saying the neighbouring country had already taken India's land in Ladakh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should speak on the issue. On Monday, Beijing released the 2023 edition of the so-called "standard map of China" that laid claim over Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as regions within its borders.

Chandrayaan-3 mission's Pragyan rover on Wednesday clicked an image of the Vikram lander. The lander and the rover are designed to operate for one lunar daylight period (about 14 Earth days). ISRO has said two of the three Chandrayaan-3 mission objectives- demonstration of a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, and demonstration of rover movement on the moon have been achieved, while the third -- in-situ scientific experiments are underway.

Seeking to fulfill another key pre-poll promise, Congress government in Karnataka launched 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme, offering a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to about 1.1 crore women who are heads of their households. The scheme rolled out amid fanfare is one of the five pre-poll 'guarantees' of the Congress, which ousted the BJP from power in the May Assembly elections.

The CBI has taken over the investigation in 27 FIRs lodged in connection with ethnic clashes in Manipur that have claimed more than 160 lives in nearly four months. The agency has re-registered these cases but has not made the details public because of the sensitive nature of the situation prevailing in the northeastern state, sources aware of the developments said.

The Aam Aadmi Party's chief national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar pitched for Arvind Kejriwal as the prime ministerial candidate for the opposition INDIA bloc. Hours later, Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi said the chief minister does not have such aspirations. The comments came a day ahead of the INDIA alliance's meeting in Mumbai during which the opposition leaders are expected to chalk out a joint campaign strategy to take on the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and iron out the differences among themselves.

Five labourers including three brothers died after inhaling a suspected poisonous gas at a factory in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. Gas started emanating from a tank inside  Sakshi Food Products factory around 11 am and two labourers entered to check, they took ill after inhaling the gas, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha said.

The Privileges Committee of Lok Sabha unanimously adopted a resolution to revoke the suspension of Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from the lower house. Chowdhury is learnt to have told the Committee, chaired by BJP member Sunil Kumar Singh, that it was never his intention to hurt anybody's feelings and expressed regret for certain remarks made by him.

Seven members of a family were killed and five others injured as an SUV crashed into a trailer truck that was parked on the roadside in Bihar's Rohtas district. Besides the driver, there were 11 others travelling in the SUV, which was allegedly speeding. Police said they suspect that the driver lost control of the vehicle because of the high speed.

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa expressed regret at missing the gold at the 2023 FIDE World Cup and said his focus will be to win the world title at the next instance. Following his return to the city, Pragnanandhaa received a cheque for Rs 30 lakh for his performance at the 2023 FIDE World Cup, and entering the FIDE Candidates tournament, from Chief Minister M K Stalin.
