A CBI team on Monday visited the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in connection with "further probe" in the land for jobs scam case, officials said.

There is no search or raid taking place, they said.  The CBI had already filed its charge sheet in the case and the special court has summoned the accused, including former Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and his family members and others on March 15, they said.

The CBI on Monday produced former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia before a city court in connection with the excise policy case, reports PTI.

The man who fired the first shot at Umesh Pal, a key witness in the killing of former BSP legislator Raju Pal, was gunned down in an encounter by Prayagraj police early Monday, officials said.

Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman suffered bullet injuries in his neck, chest and thigh during the encounter between Gothi and Belwa under the Kaundhiyara police station area around 5.30 am, Dhoomanganj Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar Maurya said.

The Chhattisgarh government on Monday presented the annual budget of Rs 1,21,500 crore for the financial year 2023-24 and announced to give Rs 2,500 monthly allowance to unemployed youth in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who holds the Finance portfolio, also announced a hike in the monthly honorariums of anganwadi workers, home guards, village kotwars and others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that life-savers like medicines, vaccines and medical devices were weaponised when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak, and asserted that his government has been consistently trying to minimise India's dependence on foreign countries in the health sector.

Addressing a post-budget webinar on 'Health and Medical Research', Modi said India's health sector was marred by a lack of integrated approach and long-term vision for decades after Independence but his government has not confined it to the health ministry alone and has dealt with it with the "whole of government" outlook.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday inaugurated the Ashram flyover extension that would bring a huge relief for people commuting between Delhi and Noida.

PWD engineer-in-chief Anant Kumar said that for now, light vehicles will be allowed on the extended flyover.

Intensifying its attack on the ruling AAP, the BJP on Monday burnt effigies of "corruption" and "liquor scam" near Hanuman Mandir here, as it reiterated its demand for resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over alleged -corruption in the now-scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22.

The Delhi BJP likened the effigy-burning to torching of a 'Holika' and has planned to burn such effigies at various locations, spanning all 70 assembly constituencies.

Taiwanese electronics major Foxconn on Monday said it is committed for setting up a manufacturing facility in Kongara Kalan near here.

Foxconn Technology Group chairman Young Liu in a letter addressed to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, confirmed the commitment of Foxconn in setting up the manufacturing facility in Kongar Kalan and sought the support of State team in operationalising the Kongar Kalan Park as early as possible, a release from the CMO said here.

Meta Platforms' WhatsApp has agreed to be more transparent about changes to its privacy policy introduced in 2021, the European Commission said on Monday, following complaints from consumer bodies across Europe.

The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) and the European Network of consumer authorities told WhatsApp last year that it had not clarified the changes in plain and intelligible language, violating the bloc's laws.

Leader of opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari on Monday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi "expressing concern" that the CBI was not acting against those holding high positions and involved in the decade-old Saradha chit fund scam.

In his letter, Adhikari alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the "biggest beneficiary" of the scam involving crores of rupees but the CBI was hesitating to act against her because of her post.
