Nitish Kumar government in Bihar released findings of its much-awaited caste survey which revealed that OBCs and EBCs constitute a whopping 63 per cent of the state’s total population. The survey also stated that Yadavs, the OBC group to which Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav belongs, were the largest in terms of the population, accounting for 14.27 per cent of the total.

The Nobel Prize in medicine has been awarded to Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman for discoveries that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. The Nobel Prizes carry a cash award of 11 million Swedish kronor (USD 1 million).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and said his timeless teachings 'continue to illuminate our path.' West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute saying that his ideals of 'inclusivity, social justice and equality' have remained 'relevant even today'. President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid homage to Gandhi at the Gandhi Smriti museum. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister  M K Stalin hailed Gandhi, saying he struggled against hatred and ensured peace in society.

A complete shutdown in the tribal-dominated Churachandpur district of Manipur brought normal life to a standstill. Amid tribal groups accusing the NIA and CBI of high-handedness in Manipur, the central agencies said every arrest made in the restive state, which has been witnessing ethnic clashes since May, is based on evidence gathered by investigative teams.

The Delhi Police has arrested one of NIA's most wanted terrorists, Shahnawaz, who is alleged to have links with an ISIS module, officials said on Monday. An engineer by profession, Shahnawaz was arrested Sunday night from an area in southeast Delhi by the Delhi Police's Special Cell and is currently being interrogated, an official said.

Indian roller skaters clinched two bronze medals in men's and women's 3000m team relay events to match their best ever performance at the Asian Games. Sutirtha Mukherjee and Auhika Mukherjee's giant-slaying run ended with a historic bronze medal after the Indian duo lost the closely-fought women's doubles semifinal 3-4 to North Korea. India's Parul Chaudhary and Priti secured silver and bronze medal respectively in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

Google in partnership with HP has started manufacturing Chromebooks in India, the PC maker said. The Chromebook devices are being manufactured at the Flex Facility near Chennai, where HP has been producing a range of laptops and desktops since August 2020
