The 170 seats in the three biggest states – UP (80), Maharashtra (48) and Bengal (42) – would have helped Modi secure a third term as prime minister without the two ‘N’ crutches – Nitish Kumar and N Chandrababu Naidu.

Passengers faced hardship for the second day as several suburban trains were cancelled or short-terminated for infrastructure upgrade at Sealdah station in Calcutta, officials said. An Eastern Railway official said that 147 services of suburban trains were scheduled to be short-terminated or short-originated during the period of the work, which include the length extension of five platforms to accommodate 12-coach EMU trains and for electronic interlocking system, from the early hours of Friday to Sunday afternoon.

Besides Hasina and Afif, the other leaders attending the ceremony are Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut criticised people praising the CISF woman constable who allegedly slapped her, asking if they also justify "rape or murder". In her video message, Ranaut said she was hit in the face and abused by a CISF constable, who appeared to be upset with the actor over her stance on the farmer protests, during security check at the Chandigarh airport.
