India will bring in and prosecute 35 Somali pirates its navy captured on a hijacked ship off Somalia, a navy official said, in a departure from its recent practice of rescuing vessels and crew but leaving the disarmed pirates at sea. Indian navy commandos managed to release the Malta-flagged commercial ship MV Ruen on March 16, which had been hijacked 450 nautical miles east of Socotra in the northern Arabian Sea by Somali pirates on Dec 14.

The man who brutally murdered two children at their home in Budaun knew the family and had gone there seeking money for payment to a hospital where his pregnant wife is admitted, according to the FIR lodged on the matter. A man who had recently opened a barber shop in the locality entered the house and attacked three brothers -- Ayush,12, Ahaan alias Honey, 8, and Yuvraj, 10, with a knife.

Delhi High Court sought the stand of the Enforcement Directorate on a petition by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging the summons issued to him in an excise policy-linked money laundering case. A bench headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait granted two weeks' time to the ED to file its reply on this aspect.

Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, a key constituent of the INDIA bloc in its manifesto released promised to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 if the opposition alliance wins the LS polls. Waiving loans and interests for farmers in nationalised and scheduled banks, waiver of educational loans for students, monthly entitlement of Rs 1000 for all women in every state and formation of State Development Council by including Chief Ministers were among the promises made by the DMK.

Union Health Ministry has sought from the Punjab government a detailed report on the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's mother Charan Kaur which led to her giving birth at the age of 58. Balkaur Singh and his wife Charan Kaur welcomed a baby boy on March 17, nearly two years after Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district. They had opted for IVF technique.

Calcutta High Court on Wednesday doubled a fine of Rs one lakh to Rs two lakh on a promoter for failing to pay the cost imposed on him for constructing an unauthorised three-storeyed building in Calcutta. Noting that the petitioner had been directed to pay the cost of Rs one lakh imposed on him by March 18 and had not done so claiming that he had moved the division bench of the court appealing against her order, Justice Amrita Sinha said that she was going to increase the cost imposed since there was no stay on her previous order by the division bench.

A man was allegedly beaten up, forced to drink urine and wear a garland of shoes after he eloped with a married woman in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district, prompting the police to initiate action into the incident. In one of the videos, the man is seen wearing a garland of shoes and drinking a liquid, believed to be urine, from a bottle as some people shout at him and force him to consume it.

Seven people have been pronounced dead after a South Korean ship capsized off an island in southwestern Japan, the coast guard said, out of nine crew members found so far. The coast guard is still searching for two more people who were on the chemical tanker, which flipped over after reporting trouble in a rough sea.
