The blades of the auger machine deployed to drill through the debris of the collapsed Silkyara tunnel have got stuck in the rubble, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said. International tunnelling expert Arnold Dix said the auger machine engaged for drilling through the rubble at the Silkyara tunnel has busted with rescuers considering other options, including vertical and manual drilling, to bring out the 41 trapped workers.

A second group of 13 Israeli hostages, mostly children, are expected to be freed by Hamas militants after they were abducted during the horrific onslaught on the country on October 7. Hamas was expected to swap more of its hostages for prisoners held by Israel on the second day of a cease-fire that has allowed critical humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and given civilians their first respite after seven weeks of war.

A court in New Delhi sentenced four convicts in the killing of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan in 2008 to life imprisonment while the fifth convict was sent to three years in jail. Madhavi Vishwanathan, mother of Soumya who was shot dead 15 years ago, said that she is 'satisfied' with the court's judgement, but not 'happy'.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his party punctured all four tyres of the BJP in poll-bound Telangana and shall do it in Delhi soon. Describing the upcoming election as a battle between 'Dorala Sarkar' (feudal government) and 'Prajala Sarkar' (people’s government), the Gandhi scion said while people dreamt of pro-poor and farmers government, Chandrasekhar Rao dashed their hopes.

An alleged courier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Mahadev betting app case submitted before a special court here that he had been framed up as part of a conspiracy and he had never delivered cash to politicians. Asim Das, the alleged cash courier, and constable Bhim Singh Yadav were on November 24 produced before Ajay Singh Rajput, a special judge for Prevention of Money Laundering Act cases, upon expiry of their judicial remand, Das's lawyer Shoaib Alvi said.

At least one village volunteer was killed in a gunfight with unidentified men in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Saturday, an official said. Tension prevailed in the village as well as adjoining areas in Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts, with people apprehending counter-attacks on villages in adjoining Imphal Valley and further reprisals, an official said.

Under the Narendra Modi government, an order of Rs 36,468 crore for the delivery of 83 LCA Mk 1A Tejas aircraft has been placed with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, official sources said, as the prime minister visited the defence PSU. Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a sortie on the Tejas aircraft, and said the experience has bolstered his confidence in the country's indigenous capabilities.

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was stabbed by another inmate and seriously injured on November 24 at a federal prison in Arizona, a person familiar with the matter said. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an incarcerated person was assaulted at FCI Tucson at around 12.30 pm local time.
