The U.S. insisted to Israel this week that it come up with clear plans to minimize civilian harm in any military operation in southern Gaza, a senior U.S. official said, as the Israeli military resumed bombardment of the enclave after a week-long truce collapsed. By the evening of December 1, Gaza health officials said Israeli air strikes had killed 184 people, wounded at least 589 others and hit more than 20 houses.

As many as 20 flights at the Delhi airport were diverted due to bad weather on, according to an official. A total of 13 flights were diverted to Jaipur, four to Amritsar and one each to Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh, the official added.

Tremors were felt in various parts of West Bengal as an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit neighbouring Bangladesh. "Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.6, Occurred on 02-12-2023, 09:05:31 IST, Lat: 23.15 & Long: 90.89, Depth: 55 Km, Location: Bangladesh, India," the NCS said on X.

The Aditya Solar wind Particle Experiment payload onboard India's Aditya-L1 satellite has commenced its operations and is performing normally, ISRO said. Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space-based observatory to study the Sun from a halo orbit around first Sun-earth Lagrangian point (L1), which is located roughly 1.5 million km from Earth.

Women are usually the victims of rape but can a woman be booked in a rape case? The Supreme Court has agreed to examine this question after a woman petitioned it for anticipatory bail in a rape case also involving her son. While agreeing to examine the issue, a bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Sanjay Karol granted the woman protection from arrest and directed her to cooperate with the investigation.

In order to protect consumers' interest, the government has banned use of 'dark patterns' on e-commerce platforms which intend to deceive customers or manipulate their choices. Resorting to dark patterns will amount to misleading advertisement or unfair trade practice or violation of consumer rights.

The depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression and is likely to become a cyclone before crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam on December 4, IMD said. If the system intensifies into a cyclone, it will be called 'Michaung', a name suggested by Myanmar.

A man from Manipur, his wife and his sister were allegedly assaulted by a group of people in southeast Delhi's Sunlight Colony area, police said. The victim, a resident of Jeevan Nagar in Ashram, suffered abrasion on his knees, redness and swelling in the eyes, and swelling on the left side forehead.
