Samajwadi Party Kaushambi (SC), UP

Son of SP general secretary Indrajeet Saroj, Pushpendra defeated two-time BJP MP Vinod Sonkar. He will be the youngest MP in the house. He has a BSc in accounting and management from Queen Mary University, London.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Samastipur, Bihar 

Daughter of JDU minister Ashok Kumar Choudhary, Shambhavi is an MA in sociology from Delhi University. She defeated Congress’s Sunny Hazari, son of another JDU minister Maheshwar Hazari.

Priya Saroj, 25 

Samajwadi Party Machhlishahr (SC), UP 

Daughter of SP MLA Tufani Saroj, Priya is a lawyer in the Supreme Court. She defeated BJP incumbent BP Saroj by a margin of just 2%.

Sanjna Jatav, 26 

Cong Bharatpur (SC), Rajasthan 

Jatav, a lawyer, mother of two and wife of a constable, was elected to Parliament from chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s home constituency, just months after losing the Assembly polls. A video of her dancing to celebrate her victory went viral online.

Son of Karnataka minister Eshwar Khandre, Sagar defeated junior Union minister Bhagwanth Khuba. Khandre is a lawyer.

Priyanka Jarkiholi, 27 

Cong Chikkodi, Karnataka.

Daughter of Karnataka minister and anti-superstition activist Satish Jarkiholi, Priyanka — who hails from a prosperous Valmiki Nayaka tribal family — was elected from an unreserved seat. The BJP won all the other seats in the region of Mumbai-Karnataka where she won from.

Samajwadi Party, Kairana, UP

Daughter of two former MPs —- Munawwar Hasan and Tabassum Hasan —- Iqra had protested against the new citizenship regime in London while she was studying at The School of Oriental and African Studies there in 2019. She is being praised for winning in a communally polarised seat.

Bharat Adivasi Party Banswara (ST), Rajasthan 

Roat is a two-time MLA and founder of his party that split from the Bharatiya Tribal Party last year. He won despite the Congress candidate refusing to withdraw his nomination against him although the parties are aligned. PM Narendra Modi had made his controversial mangalsutra remark while campaigning in the seat in April.

 Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) Nagina (SC), UP

He shot to fame after his group Bhim Army backed Dalits in a clash with upper-caste Thakurs in Saharanpur in 2017. Chandrashekhar, also known as Raavan, had called for a march against the new citizenship regime in Delhi in 2020 which was attacked by Right-wing mobs leading to riots in the capital.

The motor-mouth actress defeated Congress bigwig Vikramaditya Singh. She is known for speaking out against nepotism in Bollywood and calling farm protestors Khalistanis. A CISF woman constable allegedly slapped her at Chandigarh airport on Thursday for her views on the protesting farmers.
