West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said she was "ready to resign" for the "sake of people" and expressed regret over the junior doctors' refusal to come for talks to resolve the impasse over the R G Kar rape-murder case.
Former MP Kunal Ghosh shared an audio conversation between two people to iterate his allegations. The Telegraph Online hasn’t verified the authenticity of the audio. Besides his accusation against the ultra left, he also shared a video asking if the junior doctors are using the BJP’s state party office (which is beside the Swashtya Bhavan protest site) as their sanctuary.
Banerjee, who waited for nearly two hours for the agitating doctors to come for the meeting, said she also wanted the victim to get justice and apologised to the people of West Bengal for the continued deadlock. Here's what other Trinamul Congress leaders said after Mamata Banerjee's wait.
Derek O'Brien said, "How long will the RG Kar victim’s family have to wait for justice? A) Supreme C is monitoring the case B) CBI has the accused & all the evidence. Why is it not filing a chargesheet & starting trial? We all want swift justice. Why is CBI delaying the trial? We need answers."
Kunal Ghosh also posted a picture on X and said, "Jyoti Bose's police lathi charge on junior doctors in 1983 and Mamata Banerjee waiting for junior doctors in 2024." Ghosh took to X and said, all that is happening is a terrible conspiracy. An attempt to put the state government and @AITCofficial in a tight spot by launching an attack on the doctors' protest at Salt Lake.
Saayoni Ghosh said, "Imagine a bjp state where the CM is waiting for over 1.5hrs to have an open dialogue with the protesters. JNU, FARMERS PROTEST, MANIPUR!! The PM turned a blind eye. It’s so important to choose one’s battle carefully. Dear Jr. Docs, Don’t be on the Wrong side of history." She also posted a picture that mocked CPIM.
Trinamul Congress MLA June Maliah said, "Despite three efforts by the State Administration to end the deadlock, the cease-work continues. The tragic outcome? Another young life lost at R G Kar Hospital. Junior doctors, put the lives of patients above all else. Request to resume your services immediately& help save lives!"
Sagarika Ghose said, "Mamata Banerjee waits and waits. But Junior Doctors don’t come to meet her. Yet death won’t wait. 30 are already dead because of absence of working doctors in hospitals."
State President of the AITC Social media & IT cell wing, Debangshu Bhattacharya said, State Administration tried to mediate, but the strike continues, costing one life after another.
"Junior doctors, your duty is to save lives; we urge you to acknowledge the critical situation and resume your responsibilities immediately", he added.
