TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a rally, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, in Calcutta. Speaking at the mega rally of the TMC at Brigade Parade Grounds, Banerjee said the sudden resignation of Election Commissioner Arun Goel proves that the “BJP is attempting to loot votes in the Lok Sabha polls”.

People arrive to attend the rally of TMC. The Trinamul Congress launched its Lok Sabha poll campaign from the grand rally, where party supremo Mamata Banerjee is expected to set the tone for the upcoming elections.

Cricketer Yusuf Pathan will contest from the Berhampore Lok Sabha seat. TMC also renominated expelled Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra from Krishnanagar seat for the second consecutive term. Saayoni Ghosh will contest from Jadavpur.
Mamata iterated that her party, which is a partner of the Opposition bloc INDIA, will contest the Lok Sabha polls in Bengal alone. “We will contest the Lok Sabha polls in Bengal alone and will fight against the Congress, BJP and the CPI(M)."
