The ancient Nalanda University, dating back to the fifth century, was a beacon of knowledge that attracted scholars from around the globe. Drawing inspiration from its illustrious predecessor, the new campus echoes the architectural and cultural grandeur of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Nalanda Mahavihara. This historical site, which thrived between the 5th and 12th centuries AD, stands as a testament to one of the greatest centres of learning in ancient India.

The newly inaugurated campus spans an impressive 455 acres and is built with an eye toward sustainability and innovation. Constructed entirely with sundried bricks, it proudly stands as a 'Net Zero Green Campus.' This eco-friendly initiative features 100 acres of water bodies, an on-grid solar plant, a drinking water treatment plant, a water recycling plant for reusing wastewater, and 100 acres of green cover.
