In a remarkable display of valour and coordination, the Indian Navy and Coast Guard executed a critical medical evacuation from Agatti Island in Lakshadweep on June 27. The daring operation, which unfolded amidst the formidable conditions of the south-west monsoon, involved rescuing four critically-ill patients, including two infants.

The mission was spearheaded by the Southern Naval Command and Coast Guard District HQ - 4 in Kochi. Despite the challenging weather, the determination to save lives propelled the teams into swift action. On the afternoon of June 28, Dornier aircraft from both the Navy's INS Garuda and the Coast Guard Air Enclave took flight, navigating the turbulent skies to reach Agatti.

Upon landing, the dedicated medical teams efficiently transferred the ailing patients onboard the aircraft. By around 7 pm, they had successfully transported the patients to Kochi. The patients were immediately shifted to a local hospital for further treatment, marking the successful conclusion of a high-stakes rescue operation.
