Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Train Derailment Incident
At least four coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh train were derailed in the Gonda-Mankapur region of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The incident occurred at 2:35 pm, according to a statement from the railways. At least four people have been confirmed dead.
Chief Minister's Response
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's office stated that CM Adityanath has directed officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work. Additionally, he has also instructed for proper treatment of any injured passengers.
Rescue Operations
Senior railway and local administration officials are at the site to oversee rescue operations.
Similar incident in the last month
This derailment happened a month after the Kanchanjunga express accident, which took at least 10 lives. The June 17 accident took place owing to improper instructions and inadequate counselling of train running and operations staff, highlighting ongoing issues within railway operations.
