The six-lane trans-harbour bridge is 21.8 km long with a 16.5 km sea-link. The bridge is dedicated to the memory of the late BJP veteran and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The foundation stone of the bridge had been laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2016. The sea bridge brings Raigad, Pune and Goa closer to Mumbai.
Atal Setu is also known as Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL). The maximum speed limit for four-wheelers on the MTHL will be 100 kmph, while motorbikes, autorickshaws and tractors won’t be allowed on the sea bridge.

The bridge has slashed the travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai from a tedious 2 hours to a mere 20 minutes, promising increased efficiency and convenience. An estimated 70,000 vehicles are expected to traverse the bridge daily, underscoring its vital role in regional transportation.
The construction process involved a staggering amount of materials, with 177,903 metric tonnes of steel and 504,253 metric tonnes of cement contributing to the bridge's formidable structure.
