Fans of Rajinikanth can relive the magic of Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi on the superstar's birthday as the 1991 gangster drama returns to theatres on December 12. A modern take on the Mahabharata, Thalapathi features Rajinikanth as Surya, who was abandoned as a baby and raised in the slums, and grows up to fight injustice. His fearless nature impresses Devaraj (Mammootty), a feared but just gangster, who makes Surya his closest ally. Conflict arises when Arjun (Arvind Swami), a law-abiding collector and Surya’s estranged brother, opposes their violent methods.
Raj Kapoor 100: A Centenary Tribute
Raj Kapoor, a name synonymous with timeless storytelling, continues to inspire as the world celebrates his birth centenary. To honour his legacy, PVR INOX and Film Heritage Foundation of India are jointly organising a film festival titled Raj Kapoor 100 that brings ten of his iconic films back to theatres from December 13 to 15. Classics like Awara, Shree 420, Sangam, and Mera Naam Joker will be screened across 101 theatres in 34 cities for just Rs 100 per ticket.
