The teaser for Zero Se Restart, a film that delves into the making of Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail, urges viewers to pause and reflect on their childhood dreams.

Dropped on Wednesday, the two-minute-five-second-long teaser opens with a black screen where a voiceover asks the audience to envision the first dream they had as children. It then asks whether, while opening up about our dreams of becoming a movie star, doctor, engineer or IAS officer to our mothers, we also mentioned selling tobacco to the poor, getting rich by selling illicit medicines, mixing sand with cement and being corrupt. “Such thoughts would have never crossed your minds,” the voiceover points out.

As the scene shifts, we see a crowd of aspiring IAS officers from the ending scenes of 12th Fail waiting nervously outside the gates of their university to check the results. Among these young faces, Vikrant Massey’s Manoj Kumar Sharma and Medha Shankr’s Shraddha Joshi appear.

In a moment of triumph when Shraddha notices Manoj’s name on the results board and the latter breaks down with happiness, the voiceover says, “Let’s go back to zero again and meet our lost selves.” The teaser concludes with Manoj and Shraddha joining their friends to celebrate their success in the civil exam.

“Each one of us has a ‘zero’ moment - a point where we truly began, filled with innocence and pure ambition. Let’s all head back and reconnect with our purest selves. Join us on this journey with, Zero Se Restart,” the description of the teaser on YouTube reads.

12th Fail, chronicling the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma (Vikrant) who overcame poverty and cracked UPSC, was released in theatres on October 27 last year.

After its OTT release on December 29, the film acquired the topmost position on IMDb’s list of highest-rated Indian movies of all time, surpassing even Hollywood hits Oppenheimer and Barbie.

Zero Se Restart is slated to hit theatres on December 13.
