Zendaya’s teenage tennis prodigy-turned-super coach gets into romantic entanglements with West Side Story’s Mike Faist and The Crown’s Josh O'Connor, fuelling rivalry between the two best friends on and off the court in the trailer of the US sports comedy drama Challengers.

Dropped by the makers on Twitter on Tuesday, the two-minutes-16-seconds-long trailer follows Tashi Donaldson (Zendaya), a gifted teenage tennis player who becomes romantically involved with two emerging male players — Art (Mike Faist) and Patrick (Josh O'Connor). When a severe injury abruptly ends Tashi’s career, she chooses to marry Art and coaches her husband to grand slam glory.

When Art experiences a series of defeats, Tashi asks him to participate in a Challenger event, aiming for the ultimate comeback story. But her plan suffers a setback when Art is pitted against Patrick, his former best friend and Tashi's former lover. As these former romantic rivals confront each other in a high-stakes match, Tashi must confront her own past and contemplate the sacrifices she might have to make in pursuit of victory.
