Law Roach, the man behind the most iconic red-carpet looks of Hollywood star Zendaya, has announced his retirement from the fashion industry, citing “politics” as the reason for his exit.

“If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics , the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out,” the celebrity stylist wrote on Instagram on March 14.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell responded to the announcement saying, “Law I won’t let you !!!! We don’t quit …”

Law’s retirement has triggered debates over the alleged politics and “toxic competition” in the industry. Several netizens have shared a recent video of Zendaya and Law at the Louis Vuitton Fall Runway show for the Fall-Winter 2023 collection in Paris, where the fashion stylist was not allotted a seat next to Zendaya in the front row.

The alleged disrespectful seating arrangement could be one of the many reasons behind the retirement of the 44-year-old stylist. European fashion brand Dior had also opted out of naming Law as the stylist behind Anya Taylor Joy’s outfit — a move that did not sit well with Law who called out the fashion house via an Instagram story.

Law has been the man behind the most iconic red-carpet and MET Gala looks of celebrities like Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra, Tom Holland, Lewis Hamilton, Hailee Steinfield, Kerry Washington, Celine Dion and Ariana Grande.

Recently, Law styled Zendaya for her back-to-back red-carpet looks for the Screen Actors Guild Awards as well as the NAACP Image Awards.

Law has also been the go-to stylist for Priyanka Chopra, who attended Bvlgari’s Eden of Wonders in a stunning Robert Wun dress styled by the 44-year-old.

The first African-American to appear on the cover of American magazine The Hollywood Reporter in its annual Most Powerful Stylists issue, Law often broke boundaries with his work. He has also served as a judge for reality television shows America’s Next Top Model and HBO’s Legendary.
