Zareen Khan is one angry woman. And it has nothing to do with her tirade against the director of Aksar 2, her last film. What upset her was a journalist’s questions on Salman Khan’s reaction to her intimate scenes in her recent films. By her own admission, the actress was rather irritated. And understandably so.
Talking about the episode, the actress said: “I was irritated when someone asked what Salman’s reaction is when he sees my bold scenes. If doing bold scenes is such a big deal then they should ask what is my mom’s reaction!” And she said her mother was pretty okay with it.
“After watching Aksar 2 we were all disappointed because that is not what I had expected out of it. And about Hate Story, I had discussed that with my mother and it was well accepted.”
This is not the only time, however, that Zareen got asked about Salman’s reaction. More often than not, questions to her usually centre around her Veer co-star.
“I think they ask me about Salman because it is because of him that I am a part of this industry. There is no denying that. People should understand that Salman is always going to be very dear to me, but I am not going to be ‘Betaal’ and neither is he ‘Vikram’ that I will always cling to his shoulder… that every question has to go in his direction is something I don't understand. I am sure even he would not like it!” she clarified.
Nevertheless, the “bold” question does make her smile with irony. “For a person who was criticised for her weight and god knows what, to now suddenly being called super sexy and bold… I find that funny because I still don’t understand how am I bold. Forget films, people these days post bikini pictures on Instagram… at times, where they don’t wear anything! And yet, I am bold.”
Add to that, Zareen believes she has also managed to get off another burden off her shoulders — comparisons with Katrina Kaif. It is well known that Salman had given her a break because he found her to have similarities with Kat.
“People used to ask me about my similarities with so and so. I did not know what to say to that. Because I don’t feel that I look like someone else. I am finally happy that people know me as Zareen Khan and this was my whole struggle, to make my own individuality. Nobody wants to live under anybody else’s shadow…” she said. The actress is now getting ready for her next, 1921, directed by Vikram Bhatt.
