Zack Snyder’s Justice League may get a theatrical release soon, the filmmaker hinted in a social media post on Tuesday.
Snyder took to social media platform Vero to share a photo of Ben Affleck’s Batman from Snyder Cut alongside the caption, “Want to see ZSJL on the big screen… stay tuned for a date.”
This cryptic message has ignited excitement among fans.
Originally released exclusively on HBO Max in 2021, Zack Snyder’s Justice League presented a vastly different take on the superhero team-up compared to the 2017 theatrical cut. Snyder, who originally directed the film, had to step down due to a family tragedy. In his place, Warner Bros. brought in Joss Whedon, known for directing The Avengers, to complete the project, resulting in significant rewrites and reshoots.
After years of persistent social media campaign from fans, Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League finally debuted on HBO Max on March 18, 2021. This version of the film is notable for its additional two hours of footage and its unique 4:3 aspect ratio.
Zack Snyder’s post on Vero app
The Snyder Cut received a more positive critical reception than its predecessor, boasting a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the theatrical cut's 40%.
While Snyder hasn’t provided any further details, his tease suggests there might be discussions happening behind the scenes for a theatrical release.
