Initially scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 22, Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire will now get a special release on December 21, the filmmaker has announced in a social media post.
“Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire is getting a special early release on Dec 21 at 7pm PT, only on Netflix. Let the countdown begin,” The Justice League director wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
In India, the film will be available to stream on Netflix from 8.30am on December 22.
Snyder’s post prompted reactions from fans awaiting the release of the film on the streaming platform. While most fans expressed their excitement, a few also requested an early release of the special director’s cut.
“OK, but which version will that be? The short or the long one? Can anyone actually answer this? Would love to know so I can plan a watch party with friends and I don't plan to do that for the shorter version of it,” commented a fan on X.
Originally conceived to be a part of the Star Wars Franchise, Rebel Moon, starring Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou and Ed Skrein, is now a standalone project. The official synopsis on Netflix reads, “When the ruthless forces of the Motherworld threaten a quiet farming village on a distant moon, a mysterious outsider becomes its best hope for survival”.
Rebel Moon –Part Two: The Scargiver, a sequel to the film, is already scheduled to premiere on April 19, 2024.
