Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in Fighter

The Hrithik Roshan aerial action film Fighter takes us on an incredible journey unfolding the remarkable camaraderie and patriotism among a crew of skilled IAF aviators at Air Dragons. Ranging from supersonic fighter aircrafts to electrifying action sequences, the film stirs an adrenaline rush at regular intervals, captivating the audience effortlessly. Out of all the characters, I felt Deepika Padukone as Squadron Leader Minal was truly impressive. Her character subtly encapsulated the persistent hardships faced by women in a typically male-dominated profession. Watching her enchanting chemistry opposite Hrithik Roshan in the dance numbers was delightful. His magical feet can pull off any dance step comfortably. Kudos to the star cast for delivering an all-round scintillating performance. In a nutshell, it is a decent patriotic film which is visually enriching and worthy of a watch. I liked Fighter because it is a complete family entertainer with a tribute to the Air Force as its focal point. Hrithik Roshan is in top form and is the centrepiece of this movie. Deepika Padukone does well as does the rest of the supporting cast. Music by Vishal-Shekhar is peppy with Heer aasmani being the highlight. Siddharth Anand delivers a fast-paced entertainer with lots of patriotism. A decent one-time watch.

Frankly, to make the box office rock and generate an intense first-day, first-show craze does not determine the quality of any movie. Most of the hit movies of 2023 had a wonderful journey, making millions in ticket sales and all had top Bollywood and south Indian actors who performed all the action sequences superbly.

Fighter did satisfy some viewers as Hrithik and Deepika carried out their responsibility to perform as expected. The storyline was realistic and so were the action scenes. However, the director should have done some more research on the Pulwama and Balakot incidents.

So I have to say that I did not like Fighter, even though I liked the daring air-combat sequences performed by Hrithik. His acting capability was once again put to the test and he cleared it with full marks.

Fighter is a super-entertaining and uber-stylish film infused with the right dose of patriotic flavour. From the pulsating background score, powerful action scenes and breathtaking visuals to the stupendous aerial sequences, the film is a true winner and gives due respect to the IAF personnel. It has the right amount of emotions without unnecessary melodrama. When you have the ageless Greek God Hrithik Roshan, an actor with a purpose, Deepika Padukone and the ever-graceful actor for whom age is just a number, Anil Kapoor — do we need more?

The film is beautifully supported by Akshay Oberoi, Karan Singh Grover, Sanjeeda Shaikh and our very dear Ashutosh Rana. Special credit to Vishal-Shekhar for the stylish tracks. Sorry Deepika, but the real showstopper is the dapper Hrithik. It is extremely difficult to take our eyes off him. From his body language, powerful emotions and irresistible dance moves to his terrific physique, he is the real hero of Indian cinema. However, the film's dialogues could have been more mature in certain scenes. All in all, Fighter is a befitting tribute to our armed forces and the real warriors of India.

Fighter could not meet my expectations. I am not going to hurt anyone's sentiment as I love the lead actors and went to the theatre to watch the new screen pair of Hrithik and Deepika, but it is what it is. In a patriotic movie, unnecessary drama or romantic scenes are not welcome. The background score was amazing but to make it more commercial, the makers have put in so much Bolly masala that the essence of patriotism and of this genre was lost. It failed to provide a fasten-your-seatbelt experience. However the second half, especially the last 40 minutes were good. I strongly felt that the essence we got towards the end should have been there from the beginning. The action sequences by Hrithik Roshan were alluring. Deepika Padukone nailed it in every scene. The performances by Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi were noteworthy. The scene where Minnie's father comes to see her and gives her a salute saying “Jai Hind" was the best. It was such a treat to see Hrithik and Deepika dancing together in Sher khul gaye. The use of the song Vande Mataram with the perfect sequences was also commendable.

I liked the aerial action movie Fighter. First, for the story, which is high on patriotism. The tale really touched my heart. Second, for Hrithik Roshan. He delivered a stellar performance in the role of top combat aviator Shamsher Pathania aka Patty and this is surely one of his career-best acts. He is a treat to watch in this action flick. Third, for the stunning, adrenaline-pumping, aerial combat scenes. Some scenes left me awestruck. Apart from these, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor's acting, the film's dialogue, climax and songs made watching the movie a fantastic experience. According to me, this Siddharth Anand directional is the most entertaining patriotic action drama of recent times. It is undoubtedly a wonderful tribute to the relentless and undying courage of the Indian Air Force.
